Conference on Aquatic Science and Technology (i-CoAST) event in Jeju, South Korea.

Recently, the Head of Balai Teknik Pantai, Adi Prasetyo, S.T., M.Eng., Ph.D., was honored as an Indonesian ambassador or representative as well as a speaker at the International Conference on Aquatic Science and Technology (i-CoAST) event in Jeju, South Korea.
Attended by more than 300 participants from 10 countries, the themes raised included Coastal Engineering, Coastal Infrastructure Safety, Geo-Spatial Applications in Coastal Areas, Coastal Policy Approaches, Coastal Rescue and Tourism, and Coastal visualization.
As the Conference Ambassador representing Indonesia, the Head of Balai Teknik Pantai had the opportunity to deliver a "Welcome Remark" in front of all conference participants.
In the next session, the Head of the Coastal Engineering Center presented the results of the Center's study entitled "Utilization of Open Source Data For Tsunami Risk Assessment in Indonesia Using Spatial Multi Criteria Approach (Case Study: Palu Bay, Indonesia)".
In the Poster session, a study from Balai Teknik Pantai entitled "Rapid Change of Coastal Morphology in the Coastal Area of Amurang, North Sulawesi" was also presented. This study is the result of technical advice and assistance after the disaster on June 15, 2022, at Amurang Beach, North Sulawesi.
In addition, formal meetings and discussions were also held to discuss opportunities for research cooperation related to handling coastal erosion and abrasion problems between the Coastal Engineering Centre and KIOS (South Korea), Oregon State University (America), and IH Cantabria (Spain).
This meeting was also held to renew research cooperation with the Beach and Shore Management Center (BSMC) of South Korea. The purpose of this activity is to conduct joint engineering activities in the coastal field related to hydraulic model testing, coastal protection, and climate change adaptation in Indonesia.
Hopefully, this conference will have a positive impact on Indonesia, especially in handling coastal damage and disasters!
